RTV
The country's first diesel engine-powered RTV rolled out in 1997, by Hindustan Motors Limited from its Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh, earned the name of being a RTV owing to its flexibility and versatility.
Developed in collaboration with OKA Motor Company, Australia, the RTV is created for Indian conditions and fitted completely with indigenous parts only.
The RTV's adaptability has made possible its varied application as troop carriers, passenger carriers, as well as distribution/delivery needs for individuals, institutions and corporate. It can also be customized to the requirements of the user. Among other applications, the RTV has made headway as Ambulance and School bus.
The Pithampur plant where the RTV is manufactured has the capacity to manufacture 7500 vehicles per annum. It was launched in its CNG avatar in Delhi in 2000. RTV is available in diesel, petrol, CNG/LPG variants and conform to Bharat Stage II emission norms. RTV was the first commercial vehicle in its category to have given Delhi city the environment friendly commercial passenger vehicle. RTV has become a category in itself in Delhi, where all such vehicles are called RTV.
